This is Hendrix. He was just 4 years old when he was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, and he’s the reason Salty Strides exists.

T1D became part of his story pretty early, but we decided just as quickly that it would never become his whole story.

He’s still Hendrix—the kid who wants to run hard, play soccer, be with his friends, get dirty, laugh loud, and do all the things kids are supposed to do. He just does it with a little extra gear, a few more numbers to watch, and a whole lot of people cheering him on.

Salty Strides started with Hendrix, but my hope is that it becomes so much bigger than us. A place where kids with T1D feel cool, confident and seen. Where a CGM or pump is just part of the fit. Where families find their people. And where we can make a little more noise for Type 1 awareness along the way.

Hendrix started the wave. Now we’re going to see how far we can ride it.
